Green Island is one of the most beautiful places to visit.

Green Island is a gorgeous island off the coast in north Queensland and takes around 45 minutes on a ferry from Cairns.

Out of the 300 sand cays that sit on the Great Barrier Reef, Green Island is the only one that has a rainforest! The island is a National Park that allows you to explore the surrounding reef and the rainforest.

Things to do on Green Island

Green Island is truly a unique island and the perfect place to spend a warm summer day. Choose how you want to spend your day from water activities to relaxing on the sand.

Diving

Scuba diving and helmet diving are both amazing underwater experiences you can do on Green Island. Diving allows you to go deeper in the water to get even closer to all the different marine life like the sea turtles.

Scuba diving is an enjoyable experience to explore the waters around Green Island. You can do an introductory dive and go through a brief guide. If you already have a dive certification you can learn about the best sites and start diving.

Helmet diving allows you to walk underwater along the seabed. The experience is overall rather easy, and you don’t even have to swim or get your hair wet!

Sightseeing

If the water activities aren’t exactly your thing, you can spend some time doing some sightseeing. Walk along the gorgeous beaches and look out to the Great Barrier Reef or explore the walking tracks in the rainforest.

You can also get a coffee and or a bite to eat and find a spot to sit.

Glass bottom boat

The glass bottom boat is best for families or those who don’t want to get in the water but still want to see the marine creatures. The glass bottom boat allows you to relax and look through the glass and wait for the marine creatures to come swimming by.
